#1 "Can I stay connected?"
Check out these "free" WiFi HotSpots" and give them some of your business:
Alot of Greer is wired, now. If you must work or be connected, you can find a spot!
Keep up to date with local weather conditions with info and webcams at www.GreerAz.com
"Will my cell phone work up there?"
If you have Verizon, you might get a signal if you stand on your head wearing foil shoes at the Frostybottom Cafe @ 60 Main Street. AT&T, Cellular-One, T-Mobile...most definitely... if you have an up-to-date phone. We have a "pole " by the U.S. Post Office. It shoots a signal to an 8 mile radius.
IF your cellphone is WIFI capable, check out the local "hot-spots" for full coverage.
Anything else, don't count on it. Cricket...no way.
We still have a few payphones throughout the area, too!
"Where's the closest gas station?"
None in Greer. 16+ miles to Eagar or 37+ miles to Hon-Dah Resort and Casino. Get it on the way here!
"Where's the closest grocery store?"
None in Greer but Tin Star Trading Post has the essentials (Beer, booze, cigarettes, munchies, DVDs, ice, tampons, fireside fare & etc.)
It's 14+ miles to Eagar or Springerville to Basha's or Safeway.
"Do you have a US Post Office?"
Yes, 85927. It's right on Main Street and is open M-F 8:00-3:30. "Pick-up only" on Saturday. General Delivery and all services are available.
"How's the weather up there?"
Still windy and cool during the day. Nights get very cold. Bring hoodies and wetware. Be prepared for 4 seasons weather ALWAYS. Remember 55 degrees is only half of 110 degrees and you'll feel it. Local stores sell t-shirts, hats and warmies. Visit the Quacker Barrel if you forget stuff.
Drink lots of water while you're here to stay hydrated. The altitude can make you feel wierd.
"Do I need chains or 4WD this winter?"
If you have chains for your tires, put them in the vehicle. Jumper cables and tools are a good idea. Roads aren't treacherous but anything can happen. Locals will pull you out of a jam for a fee, if we can find you.
By all means, dress and pack for the weather. Temperatures can range from 80 to -15 degrees. Pack a coat, hat, gloves AND boots if you can. Flip-flops are optional but not reccommended after Oct. 15th. Be ready for light snow after that. If you're coming from less than 3500', please bring 'jammies!
"How far are you from Sunrise Ski Resort?"
Dude...it's like 20 minutes to the slopes from here!

Doggie Doo-ties and Don't-ies
Greer is relatively "dog-friendly" but don't push it. Leashes are still a must. We have pets, too. Respect your surroundings, pick up your poop and CALL AHEAD!
MOST IMPORTANT:
The speed limit is low for a reason. Kids, kids, kids...Respect it!
DO NOT SPEED THROUGH OUR TOWN!!!!!
